Great Lake System Matrix Technology™
We have partnered with Multiple Stratigic Partners to bring you a strategically designed network for maximum uptime, fault tolerance and disaster recovery. Which ensures that our customers receive the service levels they demand. Great Lake Systems has also built an extraordinarily fault-tolerant network to connect in effect creating a single, Virtual Data Center which spans Western Washington and into Canada. The result: a flexible, scalable, personalized infrastructure that can provide all the capability you'll need as you grow. We have a unique combination of network, routing and fiber combined to create the Great Lake Systems Matrix Technology. Data Center FoundationOur roots are in the data center business. We've built strong data centers that form the foundation of the Great Lake Systems Matrix Technology difference. We designed our data centers using state of the art standards for power management and hot/cold aisle design, UPS and backup generators, all with the quality you would expect. We've interconnected our data centers with redundant fiber connections, including a route connecting Everett to Seattle via submarine cable that routes to Whidbey Island. We take the extra step within our data centers to connect client cabinets to our network using dual ports. This configuration allows Great Lake Systems to perform most routine maintenance without client interruption. It also adds an additional level of diversity, increasing the availability of our services. Extending the Benefits of Diversity Right to Your Cabinet We've created multiple recovery options within our network. A Multiple Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network connects our data centers and forms the underpinning for our IP services. This robust Cisco technology increases the fault tolerance of our network by extending physical diversity found in redundant fiber and mirrored systems to an "any-to-any" cloud. This cloud configuration is based on a fully meshed switching platform that enables us to use all the fiber routes automatically. If one path is blocked, the MPLS network finds another. ANY-TO-ANY LOGICAL CONNECTIONS DEMONSTRATES MPLS TECHNOLOGY'S STRENGTH
The Great Lake Systems private MPLS network is comprised of fully redundant routers and switches from premier equipment providers, which Great Lake Systems uses to enable a highly fault-tolerant connection to the Internet. Combining Tier 1 backbones at multiple Great Lake Systems locations, Great Lake Systems builds its Private Network Access Points (PNAPs ) with multiple directly-connected networks that can failover if needed. Extraordinary Strength with Geographically Diverse Multi-homing Our engineering approach adds geographic diversity to traditional multi-homing, resulting in integrated connections across all our data centers. This means added protection, increased availability of network connections and high Internet accessibility for cloud-hosted applications and web sites. Using our private MPLS network, an interruption of Internet connectivity in Seattle automatically fails over to our Bellingham office for example. This virtual data center concept provides our clients with the opportunity to place services in several physical locations and have them operate as if they were in the next cabinet. The northernmost point of the Great Lake Systems network is at the carrier hotel in Vancouver, BC, directly connected to a Canadian carrier. This additional protection adds international diversity to protect customers from US-based Internet interruptions. Great Lake Systems Matrix Technology Highly Survivable Network Another unique feature that increases availability is that we advertise our IPs across all our network connections. This provides our clients with extra protection for inbound traffic. If we lose a specific Internet backbone provider, our other carriers would still recognize your site. More importantly, your customers could still find your site. The impact of our design is a multi-layer, multi-homed, geographically diverse network taking an already fault-tolerant design to a new level. Overall, this unique combination of technology and engineering gives you the shortest possible path to your customers, protected by multiple routes. Our Internet connectivity is fast, scalable and makes it easy for clients to find your site. The flexibility and quality of the design means Great Lake Systems can support your leading-edge business applications. Resilient Network Connection Supports Leading Edge Applications
The Virtual Data Center is the result of this technology, software and engineering efforts and provides you with the combined strength of all our locations. The Great Lake Systems Matrix Technology difference includes:
